Here is a very serene and very elegant late Victorian era window. This gorgeous piece was salvaged from an old house near Buffalo, NY. The frame is it's original sash or frame; the interior side is stained dark brown and the exterior side is painted creamy white. The window, including the sash is 24" wide x 23 1/4" tall. The window alone measures 20 1/4" wide x 20 1/8" tall. The window hails from around 1910 - 1920, and has survived these many years very well, with not even one crack. All of the glass is original to the panel. The panel is nice and flat, without a trace of bowing. The window is composed with lead came.

The window is a beautiful medley of clear bevels interspersed with various types of clear textured glass. The centerpiece is a circular clear bevel surrounded by "petals" of clear granite glass, which is accented nicely with some shield shaped bevels in between. The leadlines extend gracefully to the corners, then branch off to form small squares of clear glass. The window has a background of clear granite glass, and the outer border is also clear glass. The inner perimeter border is a tightly patterned ripple glass.

Minor flaws are as follows: The stained side of the frame has some stain missing along one edge. Some of the old grout between the glass and the leads is missing. There is enough grout left to hold the panel rigid, but not enough to completely waterproof it. If you use this as the sole barrier to the weather and you are in a cold climate, you would need to regrout the panel, or double glaze it next to a pane of clear glass for total weatherproofing.

This window's size is small to medium and could easily feel at home in even a small apartment, or fit in almost any room of the house. This elegant piece will surely bring years of enjoyment and will instantly give an aristocratic ambience to any room. This window is in fine shape and ready for its new home. All it needs is someone who can truly appreciate its beauty the way it deserves to be appreciated.

The buyer pays actual charges for shipping plus a modest crating fee ($30.)
